Little Norway Resort’s Stay Safe Initiative
UPDATED May 10, 2020

We are implementing limited contact procedures resort-wide. These procedures are structured to keep you, your family, and our staff safe.  This initiative will help you create memories at the lake while keeping safety in mind.  We will update our procedures and information as changes occur. We stay informed daily with news from the Governor, health officials, and industry groups to ensure we are aware of and follow any new guidelines. Remember, if you are sick, please stay home.

A more flexible cancellation policy:

  • To obtain a partial deposit refund, cancellations must be made by May 15th. The deposit refunded will be 50% to 25% depending on whether the cabin is rebooked for the same period.
  • Cancellations made after May 15th will result in deposit forfeiture. In addition, you will be responsible for the remainder of the cabin balance if you do not cancel by the following date schedules:
    • For reservations with May arrivals – Must cancel 7 days (1 week) prior to arrival or more
    • For reservations with June arrivals – Must cancel 21 (3 weeks) days prior to arrival or more
    • For reservations with July, August, or September arrivals – Must cancel 35 days (5 weeks) prior arrival or more
  • Any cancellations made within these time frames (7, 21, or 35 days depending on arrival date) to your reservation will result in you being responsible for the balance of the reservation unless the cabin is rebooked for the same period.

*We are planning on car-side check-ins this summer. Please park by the lodge. We will come to you with your sanitized keys, sign-in sheet, and to put your credit card on file for payment. The lodge front desk will still be open for any questions or convenience store purchases. Please continue to stay 6 feet away from other guests – this may mean waiting outside the lodge for someone to exit.

*This summer we are asking our guests to consider check-out on Friday evening by 4pm (this is not required).  This will allow us more time to clean, sanitize, and prepare each cabin for all stays this summer, including yours.  Again, this is not required, but if you accommodate this request, we would like to extend a $100.00 voucher to a future stay in 2021.  Bill pay will be processed with the credit card on file unless we are notified otherwise.  Check-out will be the same as years past – keys on the table, doors unlocked, and trash disposed in the dumpster onsite.

We encourage you to rebook before departure or confirm your standing reservation to ensure your preferences for your vacation next year.  Please make sure we have your most up-to-date email and phone number to ensure your rebooking goes seamlessly.

We have always maintained a high standard of cleanliness at the resort, but are taking extra precautions this summer in accordance with CDC and MDH guidelines and recommendations.  Each cabin will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before your arrival.   We will be paying special consideration to high touchpoint areas such as door knobs, light switches, hangers, counter tops, and more.

*For your own peace of mind and comfort we suggest that you please bring your own pillow and comforter and/or blanket, if you wish. We are going with only sheets on the bed arrangement (Fitted sheet and flat sheet) and removing bedspreads, pillows, and extra blankets.  You can request a bedspread, pillow, pillow case, or blanket if needed.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter. This way we can be sure to have everything sanitized that we provide.

  • We are awaiting updates from the state on the opening of our hot tub, arcade, and lodge communal area.  For now, they will be closed for the month of May and likely June.
  • The lodge convenience store will remain open for bait, firewood, sealed food, pop, and sundry purchases.  We ask that guests utilize the charge sheet feature and be billed at the end of the stay to limit contact.
  • All of our boats and pontoons will be sanitized after each guest’s use.
  • We are considering a check-out/in service for the water toys (kayaks, canoe, paddle boards, and paddle boats) so that we may disinfect the equipment between uses.
  • The beach will remain open.  Beach chairs will be sanitized throughout the day.
  • We are awaiting further updates to keep the playground equipment open and safe.  We are looking into sanitizing this area daily in a similar manner as the beach chairs.
  • Our normal daily activities will be cancelled until further notice - donuts & coffee, pontoon ride, bingo, hot dogs, nature hike, scavenger hunt, and ice cream.  We are looking at ways to provide a new scavenger hunt (done at your leisure and unscheduled) and if we can provide packaged ice cream safely to all of you.  More to come on this topic.
  • With all of these points it is still important to practice distancing.  Please remember to social distance when outside around the resort or when not with your immediate family.

We hope to see you this summer. Little Norway Resort will still offer many opportunities for your family to get outside, enjoy the lake, and escape from the stress of day-to-day life even in these difficult times.  Opportunities for enjoyment include: fishing, boating, campfires, walking, biking, day trips to Itasca State Park, and enjoying the beach, among many more activities.  Please continue to stay safe, stay healthy and be kind to one another. Thank you from your Little Norway Resort family.

Your hosts,
Ben and Steph
